Late 15th Century Florentine

I have added the page with my research for this gown.  You can find the link here.

This outfit is based on various Florentine paintings dating from the late 15th Century.  Although my focus is French fashion, I am utterly in love with Italian fashion as well.  Can you tell? The outfit consists of a camicia or undershirt, a black wool gown or gamurra with pewter lacing, black and gold velvet sleeves, and a silk organza partlet or coverciere edged with gold trim. It was a snowy day when I started to put this gown together.  The fire was cozy and the idea of leaving the couch to set up the sewing machine made me shiver.  That's when I decided that putting together this dress by hand would be a good idea, and that's what I did.  No machine has ever touched this dress.  It makes a big difference.

The sleeves are lined with beige silk dupioni.   Nobody can see it, but I know it! The points for the sleeves and the acordellata (lacing cord) are all hand woven.   Thanks to my loving husband for weaving it for me!
