raceThis is the archive of non-current news for the Fallen from Grace Pennsic War encampment.
Land grab has come and gone and thanks to all the extra help, went much smoother than last year. Mom and Pop sent back this pic from on-site. No doubt everyone is looking forward to next week. Also, Mom asked that I post her report from the front, which is also linked off the resources page, under the Pennsic XXXII section.
Planning for the upcoming War has already begun. Lessons from last year and suggestions for this year have been posted to the encampment list by Belphoebe. A copy is also available under the resources page. Most of the organizers from last year have agreed to take on those roles again for this year. Also, at the Household 12th Night, everyone agreed to the sheet wall plan. Each member of the encampment should plan on purchasing two twin sized sheets, which we will decorate on an upcoming work weekend. Everyone also seemed ammenable to the proposed camp layout changes and the idea of backing the sheet wall with some inexpensive chicken wire.
Marcellus has registered us with the Land Office, which means it should now be possible to pre-register with the encampment. Remember to put the group name exactly as "Fallen From Grace". So far, Thomas and Giovanna, Marcellus and Belphoebe will be up for the weekend of land grab and Giovanna will be staying through that first week to keep an eye on things. Anyone else who can make it for the first weekend would be appreciated as it will ease and speed setup. Thomas has offered some gourmet goodies for sharing Saturday night with anyone who does turn out. Also, anyone coming that weekend should seriously thinking about coming up Friday and hotelling it at the Newcastle Comfort Inn, (724) 658-7700. That's at 1740 New Butler Road about five or ten minutes from the site. They may have rooms with jacuzzi, so make reservations early if interested.
Lastly, look for a posting to the encampment list about the Pennsic XXXI t-shirts. The suggestion has been to keep the list of lessons to ten items, we'll hammer out which ones on the list. Also, if anyone at all has an electronic copy of the Household badge, preferably in GIF format, for use on the shirts, please contact Thomas Lyon.
Pennsic War XXXI is fast approaching, with Land Grab a week away and the war itself two. Several announcements of interest follow...
The complete and revised dinner menu is up. The link is available under the local documents section of the resources page. The initial chore schedule is also up, if you have any questions or desire to swap chores, please contact Thomas Lyon directly. Belphoebe is completing the shopping this week and she and Marcellus will be leaving for the site this Friday. If you need anything from them, please contact them ASAP as they are very busy making the final preparations.
Rois is still looking for a ride--if anyone is heading up Sunday, the 11th, please contact Rois directly at shadowsong at sluggy dot net immediately.
Stay tuned to this space for more developments!
The household meeting went well and almost all details of the meal plan and camp fee should now be well pinned down. Expect an announcement on the list very soon now from Belphoebe with the specifics. Finalized information will also be published here as it is available.
Also, our own Catalina has stepped forward as official Camp Chirurgeon. She will be the point of contact for the emergency medical forms. A copy of the form, in PDF format, is now available on the resources page. Please get these to her as soon as possible, but she will accept them all the way up until you arrive on-site. All information in the forms will be kept confidential.
One other item from the Camp Chirurgeon:
"Also, I plan to have a small cooler outside my tent. This will have first aid type items, like bandades, first aid cream, an ace bandage or 2, tape, etc, as well as tylenol, ibuprofen, tums, and other typs of meds. Anyone can go in this cooler and take what you need, just please try to tell me about it sometime so I know what needs to be replaced."
If you do not know who Catalina is or which tent is hers, please ask Marcellus, Belphoebe or Thomas and they will kindly point you in the right direction.
A few things to kick off the new page:
Pre-registration is now open, you may even register online. Click the link for Pennsic XXXI (2002 c.e.), then click the link for Pre-Registration under the Pennsic Departments Announcements section. Pre-Registration deadline is June 1st, only folks who have been invited to camp with us and have pre-registered will be camping with us. Remember to put the group name as "Fallen From Grace" (without the quotation marks) on your registration. If the group name does not match exactly, you will not be allotted space with our encampment.
There will be a household meeting tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 23rd), after Ponte Alto Investiture, at Marcellus and Belphoebe's house. Please contact either Belphoebe for directions. The meeting will be held to discuss the proposed meal plan, camp fees, and several issues surrounding camp organization.
We may have a breakfast cook for the week. If Cosimo of Venice is able to come to Pennsic, he has agreed to cook breakfast for us for the week, in return for some barter with a couple of our campers. This will not add any cost to the meal plan.
